HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
It is the purpose and intent of the Aspinwall Borough Council to protect and safeguard the right and opportunity of all persons to be free from all forms of discrimination, including discrimination based on real or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, disability, marital status, familial status, or veteran status. The Commission shall be composed of five community members appointed by Borough Council. The members shall serve a term of four years without limitation. It is important for the Borough to ensure that all persons within the Borough have equal access to employment, housing, and public accommodations.

What types of complaints does the Human Relations Commission (HRC) Investigate?
The HRC is tasked with investigating complaints of alleged discrimination in the areas of housing, employment and public accommodations. Discrimination can be based upon many factors, including but not limited to: age, race, sex, gender, gender identity, religion and a number of other protected classes which are further listed on the Discrimination Complaint Intake Form. Each case is investigated individually as there are no two cases with the exact circumstances.
How do I file a complaint with the Human Relations Commission?
Complaints can be submitted either through the form below, in person, or by mail to the Borough's office. It is important to note that all complaints must be filed within 180 days of the alleged unlawful practice, or within 180 days of the last occurrence for ongoing practices, to be considered. Upon receipt, a staff member at the Aspinwall Borough office will document the date and time of the complaint and will forward a complete copy to the Chairperson of the Aspinwall Human Relations Commission within 30 days.
